*Night Splint for Foot Pain

Do you have foot pain (plantar fasciitis) in which it hurts to walk on your feet, especially when you first wake up?  This is caused by the connective tissue (fascia) and muscles getting tighter and shorter while you sleep.  One reason it does this is that your toes typically drop down in a pointed position from the weight of the covers.  Then when you take that first step in the morning, you have pain as the tissues of the foot stretch quickly.

One of the best ways to help prevent this is by using a night splint.  This is a device made out of plastic or sock type material that acts to keep your toes up at a 90 degree angle while you sleep.  Then when you get up in the morning, it does not have to stretch so far so quickly.  This helps to alleviate the pain.
