*TMJ- Jaw Pain Relieved By Good Posture
Poor posture has a significant effect on jaw pain. When the head and shoulders are slumped forward this changes the function of the muscles of the head and neck. This forward head posture places increased strain on the neck muscles, ligaments, and joints. The muscle tension in the neck and jaw increases. In this position the jaw cannot function normally and suffers a lot of “wear and tear” abuse along with the pain generated from the increased muscle tension. Improving posture can significantly decrease the muscle tension in the neck and jaw and improve TMJ symptoms.
